The most accurate term for this process now is abrasive blasting, now that many different forms of grit are used to achieve Aerospace Standards. But it is also known as glass beading or sandblasting. This process uses air pressure and a type of grit to impinge on surfaces.
Glass beading involves the use of crushed glass powders and beads used to clean many metals of heat treat scale and manufacturing defects.
